ABOUT
For as long as I can remember, before I became coach Petrina, I have wanted to ride across Canada. I fell in love with cycling as a 7 year old watching the Tour de France, entranced with the stunning and diverse landscapes that flew across my TV. When I started racing in Alberta this joy and wonder only grew, and as I started training and racing and exploring other provinces, states, and countries by bike, I concluded it is the best way to experience a place. The bicycle travels fast enough that you can cover great distances, but slow enough that you can see, hear, smell, taste, and feel the landscape, culture, and community in ways that are missed when flying or driving. I have been fortunate to have ridden in almost every province, each unique from the other, but I want to see what ties us all together and what makes us different. I want to know why and how these small towns exist; and how our cities have chosen to identify themselves. In short, I want to experience what it is to be Canadian and all the diversity that comes with it.
Sitting around one day dreaming about this great journey I thought "enough dreaming, set a date!" So I did, and I am inviting all of you to join me. Your reasons for wanting to ride across this great country may be different from mine, and you may only be able to ride a portion of the route, but everything is more fun with friends!
